Knowing God’s comfort has been so essential to me this year. Last year at this time I was driving to the airport in Boston with my brother to pick up Derek. Last year right after Thanksgiving Derek came over and made us Jack Daniels Cheese Burgers. They were delicious. That was the last time I saw him before he died. The only thing that has kept me in some semblance of sanity is knowing who God is and that he is near to the brokenhearted.
God has provided for me and my family time and again this year. When I needed a job, He dropped one in my lap. When I needed another job He guided me to it. He has been able to keep a roof over our heads and food in our bellies.
My parents just had their 3rd anniversary. Technically they were married for 20 years and then divorced, and then remarried each other. They don’t make marriage look easy, but they do prove that they have the will to fight for their relationship.
We found a church to be a part of that is local and incredibly sweet. God managed to help us find a part of his body to be a part of when we really needed it, and I am personally so thankful for that.
My distance from my BFF has become much smaller, which is one of the very best parts of living in Maine. Maybe the only part I like most days. It’s much easier to make plans to see her when I don’t have to travel 4 hours to do so.
Brady was brought into the world this year. As my BFF’s firstborn I know that I will forever love the little man. I don’t get to see him nearly enough but I’m even thankful for hearing him cry over the phone.
God has been really faithful to slam doors in my face this year. This is something I have learned after the fact, and something I have been very humbled by. When the things I wanted were in reach and God decided they weren’t what I needed he took them away, even with me kicking and screaming to have them back. And now I can see these restrictions as blessings.
Being able to hang out with my brother is my choice favorite. He and I are both getting busier with work, but I wouldn’t be able to handle life without him this year. I already love him, but the more I get to know him and his character the more pride I take in what kind of person I’m related to.
Books have been a very good thing recently, even if it’s just rereading old favorites.
Being single is not always something I feel blessed about but the more I learn about myself and where God needs to work on my heart the more I am thankful that no one else has to deal with me right now.
I still get to cut hair on the side and that is such a blessing. It’s still what I love to do, but I’m sort of glad I don’t have to work in a salon. I never seem to fit in to them.

Let’s face it, Christmas is coming and there’s no stopping it. I know it’s really too early for most people, but I thought I would provide some premature holiday inspiration! Our family is going to be keeping it simple this year, so I’m going to try to give everyone things that I can make that aren’t super costly.

DIY Wooden Trivet Set at A Beautiful Mess – Trivets! Who even thinks of these things? And we all need them! Especially when there’s a lot of family or friends over for dinner and you need the counter space for something else! Genius!
Snakeskin Coaster DIY from The Band Wife Blog – Everyone needs coasters, and these are so rock and roll.
Simple Crystal Cuff DIY from Thanks, I Made It – Buy these products in bulk and make them for all of the girls that you’ve ever known.
Chain Friendship Bracelets from Stripes and Sequins – So simple, but so colorful and fun. Easy way to cross your best girlfriends off your list.
Cutest Bows in Town Tutorial at Oh the Blissful Life – Another one for the girls, and honestly I make these for myself all the time. Perfect for nieces or friend’s kids. The best part is that there’s no sewing involved!
DIY Mason Jar Vases from Please Note – It’s a rather refreshing take on the mason jar trend that has been rocking the pinterest for EVER.
Jewelry Storage from Monaluna – I would do this for my mom or sister in a heartbeat. So much easier to see what you have than a box.
Animal Bookend from Natalme – Thinking seriously about doing this for my brother. He’s got a lot of books, surprisingly, and I think these are super funny.
Washi Tape Journal at Design Love Fest – A simply gift to give your friends who already have a billion journals but always need more.

Crafty Book Binding by Poppytalk – For someone who is willing to take the extra steps, basically this craft is a little more advanced. I don’t know if I can do it without seriously hurting myself, but I might attempt it anyway.
Dinosaur Serving Dish at Three Little Monkeys Studio – Ok, obviously all I want to do is go buy a bunch of toys and turn them into Christmas presents. But how awesome would this be to receive? On a scale of 1 to 10, a 17.

Stridex Sensitive Skin Acne Wipes: I got introduced to this by sort of stealing it all the time from my old roommate (Sorry Holls!) and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I cut the pads in half and swipe it over my T-zone for oil control after I wash my face. It’s never been too hard on my sensitive skin. I then put on a light moisturizer and I’m ready for life!

Paw Pallet: I found this Paw Pallet on beautylish, and I’ll tell you what… it’s amazing. For someone who loves (I mean, LOVES) to play with makeup it’s so much more sanitary than using the back of your hand. You can find information on it here.

Real Techniques Makeup Brushes: I got a set of Real Techniques brushes from Ulta and I have to say they are super soft, super strong (no hairs falling out all over the place) and the most fantastic blending machines I’ve ever had. I love using this one for blending concealer, eye shadow, applying highlighter… the list could go on.

Revlon ColorStay Makeup: I hate makeup that moves. This stuff doesn’t. It’s really that simple.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser (Dark Circles): My mom was using this for a while and I decided to try it because I realized that when everyone was telling me I looked tired it was because I looked tired. Not cool! I’ve found it to be absolutely wonderful, it’s smooth and easy to blend, not to mention the application is as simple as clicking and swiping with the super soft thingy on the top.

Stila “In The Light” Palette: The colors, Duke, the colors! This things has be most incredible colors for a girl who stays in the neutral range more often than not! It has a wonderful light bone color, two pretty sparkle/metallic gold colors, some absolutely incredible rose tones, a denim blue for those fancy days, and the essential darks brown, gray and black. And let’s not forget the fabulously smudge-able dark brown liner that’s included. Basically, I love this pallet.

L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara: I have eyelash issues. They are not super long. They are partially blonde. And one side has more than the other. Basically I don’t really focus on them too much. But this mascara makes them so long and beautiful without looking like spiders are squished in between my eyelids! It doesn’t get super clumpy, and it stays on all day.

Make Up Forever High Definition Powder: It sets the makeup on the skin. I couldn’t afford this by myself, I got it as a reward for spending too much money at Sephora. This little sample size has lasted me 9 months and there is still a lot left. Someday I’ll have to invest… scary thought. Make Up Forever has a good reputation because it’s good quality makeup, but the money spent will make me cry.

got2b POWDER’ful: This white powder does something to the moisture in stringy thing hair and turns it into va-va-voom! It’s like magic. And it’s really affordable. It’s sold in drugstores.

got2b Oil-licious Dry Oil Hair Taming Mist: I don’t like oily hair, thankfully this stuff is so light that it doesn’t weigh hair down and make it look oily. I like to call science like this “magic”.

Ion Repairing Oil Treatment: When my hair starts feeling like hay I start running a few drops of this through after I take a shower. It doesn’t weigh my hair down, and it does make it feel super silky and smooth.

Juicy Couture Peace, Love and Juicy: It’s fruity, it’s fresh, it’s light… It’s officially a daily thing for me. And it was, like, $20 at TJ Maxx. So I feel fancy for cheap!

I move the products around so they look different.
I read books sometimes.
My boss gets bored and buys jewelry, snacks, and $200 worth of buffalo meat online.
My boss and co-worker talk at me. Not always to me. At me.
My boss lets me change the radio station. My co-worker believes it will get us all fired.
My boss feeds me cheezits, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, pasta salad, potato salad, cake, cheeseburgers, cookies.
My co-worker brings in home made chicken wings and baked beans.
My boss and my coworker compare varicose veins.

I’m going to be 26 in a month! Let’s not go into all the gory details, let’s just read my birthday present wishlist!

The New Girl season 1 on DVD.
A durable and good sized external hard drive. I’m afraid of losing all the pictures I’ve taken over the past few years.
Anything from Wildfox. I especially like these shirts. One is fricken BA and the other represents delicious flavor.
A professional layout for DirtySean.com. I’m a big fan of this girl, and this one. I think it’s just make the site a little more… professional, stylish, exciting!
A Tristar Air Climber, cus I want to be working on my fitness and also alone in my room watching The New Girl.
Another tattoo. Just a little one. Or maybe just two little ones.
I would love a new pair of quality boots. I’m really picky about them, the style and the heel and what have you… but the ones I like are always basically rock and roll. These aren’t bad.
Anything from Lauren Conrad’s Khol’s collections. Seriously, don’t I belong in this dress?
A nice new pair of quality shears for my hairdressing-Mary-Poppins bag.
The Craig Camera Bag from Rebecca Minkoff. I said wishlist.
A clean closet. To go through all my clothes and clean my room. This will never happen.
To see my friends. The ones I haven’t seen in 6 months or more. The ones who live a state or two away. Guess what? This, like the camera bag and the clean closet, most likely won’t happen either. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so happy to have my family around me this year, I am so thankful for everything that they do to support me and try to make me feel loved. But I miss the people I left behind with the life I couldn’t quite make work. I keep trying to make a plan to go to them, but I’m really bad at that apparently. It’ll happen at some point.
